One look at the stunning rose gold appearance of our Family Estates Organic Marlborough Pinot Gris highlights the effort, skill and craft that has gone into producing a wine that reflects all that is great about Babich, and organic wines. All that glitters, truly turns to gold. A delicately styled Pinot Gris produced from our organic certified Headwaters Vineyard in the Wairau Valley. Good volume and structure throughout, with elegant florals, nutmeg, honey suckle, pear and ginger notes.

TASTING NOTES

Exotic fruits with pear, Braeburn apple and honey suckle aromas. Ginger and nutmeg spices.

Sweet pear and peach on entry with a touch of rose petal and ginger. Also, a hint of white pepper spice. Soft, warm & finely structured with a juicy finish.

The fruit was harvested in excellent condition from our certified organic Headwaters Vineyard near Renwick in Marlborough’s Wairau Valley. The grapes were crushed and after six hours of skin contact, pressed. Fermentation was by a combination wild and commercial yeast strains in tank followed by full malolactic fermentation. After a couple months on lees in barrel the wine was fined and bottled. Deeply coloured berries are reflected in the rose-gold appearance of this wine.

A great match with fresh fish and seafood or a delicious chicken Tikka Masala. Pairs well with a different range of foods.

"Varietal enticing bouquet of Gris with apple, pear and white fleshed fruits.  A soft white pepper layer and light lees and ginger note. Crisp and fruity with flavours that reflect the nose plus a touch of lemon and barley sugar. A dryish finish with flavours transitioning through white fleshed fruits into citrus and a hint of mineral."

"Full, even, straw-yellow colour with pale golden hues, a little lighter on the edge.  The nose is soft and gently voluminous with fragrant aromas of yellow stonefruits and exotic florals, interwoven with spicy and mineral elements.  This has a soft density and finesse of expression.  Dry to taste and medium-bodied, the palate has a soft-textured and gently mouthfilling flavours of yellow stonefruits lifted by exotic florals, along with notes of quince and spice, revealing subtle chalky mineral nuances.  The palate has light, refreshing, zesty acidity, and the wine flows along a softly textured line with a fine phenolic thread leading to an elegant, slender, lingering finish.  This is a softly mouthfilling, gently textured dry Pinot Gris with stonefruit, floral, spice and mineral flavours."
