Marlborough Pinot Noir Rosé

This single vineyard wine is a sustainably-crafted Rosė made grapes sourced from our estate-owned vineyards in Marlborough. Aromatic, with a soft creamy palate and a bright, refreshing finish, it’s the perfect Marlborough Rosė for a summer afternoon – or to remind yourself of one in the dark depths of winter.

TASTING NOTES

Our Pinot Noir Marlborough Rosė has strawberries and cream aromas with melon and red apple. Immediately mouth filling with good volume and flavours of tangy raspberry and stone fruits. Citrus and strawberry linger with a touch of toffee on the finish. Fresh and zesty and bursting with fruit.

Two hours skin contact in the press was sufficient to extract a delicate pink hue. Fermentation was in tank at a range of temperatures to capture the fruity appeal of this grape, while delivering depth and interest. After a short period on lees the wine was fined and bottled.

This Marlborough, New Zealand Pinot Noir Rosė would be a perfect accompaniment to a summer picnic or alongside spicy Indian cuisine.

TASTING NOTES

Aromas of strawberries and cream with a dash of raspberry and a hint of herbal note. Full soft entry with strawberry again, melon, nectarine, and yellow fleshed plum. A biscuity/vanilla complexity and long warmly spiced finish.

Due to the intense colour of the Pinot Noir in 2019, the transport time of the fruit to the winery was sufficient to extract a delicate pink hue, and the usual skin soaking of the fruit was bypassed. Fermentation was in tank at a range of temperatures to capture the fruity appeal of this grape, while delivering depth and interest. After a short period on lees the wine was fined and bottled.

This Pinot Noir Rosė would be a perfect accompaniment to a summer picnic or alongside spicy Indian cuisine.

TASTING NOTES

Aromas of strawberry and rock melon with spice and stone fruits. Strawberry again on entry with raspberry and apple. Soft and nicely structure with mouth-watering, tangy red fruits. Lively and balanced - dry finish.

After crushing and a short period of time on skins (to extract the delicate pink hue found in the wine), the grapes were pressed and the juice inoculated. Fermentation of this Rosė took place at low temperatures to retain the fruity appeal of the style. The wine spent time on lees with periodic stirring to increase weight and volume, then lightly fined and bottled.

This Marlborough Pinot Noir Rosė would be a perfect accompaniment to a summer picnic or alongside spicy Indian cuisine.

"Pinot Noir based, light salmon to pink core colour with aromas and flavours strawberries and cream, a simple red cherry and apple skin note. Refreshing and lively texture with a light minerality moment, balanced and well made."
-Cameron Douglas MS, The Shout, Nov 2017

"Bright, pale strawberry pink with peach hues, a little lighter on the rim.  The nose 1s softly fresh with aromas of strawberry fruit along with watermelon and subtle mineral notes.  The aromatics are gently packed and concentrated, unfolding delicate red floral elements.  Dry to taste and light-medium boded, the palate has light and delicate flavours of strawberries and soft red floral notes, along with subtle notes of minerals.  The palate has a fresh mouthfeel with lacy acidity and good presence, the wine flowing along a smooth line, leasing to a light, clean finish.  This is a light-flavoured dry rosê with strawberry and floral notes, on a gentle flowing, fresh palate."
