Winemaker Notes
The fruit was harvested in excellent condition from our certified organic Headwaters Vineyard near Renwick in Marlborough’s Wairau Valley. The grapes were crushed and after six hours of skin contact, pressed. Fermentation was by a combination wild and commercial yeast strains in tank followed by full malolactic fermentation. After a couple months on lees in barrel the wine was fined and bottled. Deeply coloured berries are reflected in the rose-gold appearance of this wine.
Food Pairing
A great match with fresh fish and seafood or a delicious chicken Tikka Masala. Pairs well with a different range of foods.
Awards
"Certified organic, the distinctive 2021 vintage (****) is a single-vineyard wine, grown in the Wairau Valley. Tank-fermented, partly with indigenous yeasts, it was briefly lees-aged in old oak barrels. Straw-coloured, it is mouth-filling, with peachy, spicy flavours, a hint of apricot, a distinct touch of complexity, gentle acidity and a dry (0.5 grams/litre of residual sugar) finish." - Michael Cooper, michaelcooperwines.com
