A Winemaking Journey
Our winemaking philosophy has been shaped by over 100 years of curiosity, care, and a steadfast commitment to doing things our own way. But that doesn’t mean being different for different’s sake. It simply means doing what’s required to craft wines with their own integrity and character, that wine drinkers enjoy as stylish and refined with easy drinking appeal.

Our wines are defined by the experiences, knowledge, personalities and stories from over 100+ years of family winemaking history. And like great personalities, all our wines have something to say.
Our Wineries
Hands-on attention to detail
We have two family-owned wineries, one in Auckland which also contains our dedicated bottling and warehousing facilities, and our state of the art Marlborough winery which was commissioned in 2014.
Described affectionately as our large-scale boutique winery, this Marlborough facility has the capacity to harvest our entire Marlborough production in just 12 days, along with the flexibility to ferment the 100+ different parcels of grapes that contribute to our wines – both key contributors to our track records of characterful, critically acclaimed wines.
Our Winemaking Team
Babich’s winemaking team stretches from Auckland to Marlborough, running two wineries as one tightly coordinated unit.
It’s a crew of different roles and different passports – and they didn’t arrive by the same road either: a biochemistry detour here,
a Classics grad there, a Dane swapping hygge for harvests, and a German who came for a season and stayed for seventeen — proof that great wine loves an interesting backstory. Layer that mix over 100+ years of Babich know-how and you get our favourite outcome: serious quality with easy confidence.
