A gravely addition for our centennial year
Omahu Vineyard is located in the famous Gimblett Gravels sub-region of Hawke’s Bay, an area made up of the gravelly soils laid down by the old Ngaruroro River, which were exposed after a huge flood in the 1860’s.
We thought this 6 hectare vineyard was the perfect addition to our portfolio in our hundredth year, taking our vineyard tally to 13. Omahu yields small crops of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah grapes from free draining shingle which harbour rich, concentrated flavours. We look forward to developing further quality Babich wine here.
