Black Label Hawke’s Bay Syrah

This deep coloured Syrah is produced from a special selection of grapes grown in the Bridge Pa Triangle region of Hawke’s Bay. The peppery aroma and strong berry fruit flavours are characteristic of this variety.

These grapes were harvested from our St John vineyard in Hawke’s Bay. The fruit was fermented in open vats with frequent plunging of the “cap”. After an extended period on skins, the young wine was drained to new and old French oak for maturation for a period of 7 months.

These grapes were harvested after a long steady ripening through late summer/ early autumn from our St John vineyard in Hawke’s Bay. The fruit was fermented in open vats with frequent plunging of the “cap”. After an extended period on skins, the young wine was drained to new (25%) and old French oak for maturation for a period of 12 months.

Tasting Notes:

Dark rich fruits, clove, liquorice and spice with some black pepper on the nose. Powerful and dense palate with fine tannins, sweet black fruits and cocoa. A hint of cherry on the long finish.
