Wine drinkers weren't the only ones who liked our barrels
The Babich family liked to use oak to create their first barrels, because it added a unique and desirable flavour to their wines.
But unfortunately they weren’t the only ones who liked oak. Borer beetle larvae loved to get on the outside of the barrels and chomp away at the delicious wood. Fortunately, by using a trusty wedge hammer, the team were able to replace any planks that were particularly chomped through, before any bugs got through to the real prize inside.
