Our wines are of our home
It begins in the vineyard; choosing the right spot, then coaxing the vines along until they’re ready to shine. We like to think of it as equal parts science, patience, and a bit of friendly persuasion. The result? Wines that are unmistakably Babich: deliciously drinkable, full of character, and proud of where they come from.
To have vineyards in the right regions on superior sites, and getting the right varieties on those superior sites. Only by doing those sites and varieties justice can we achieve our goal of producing wines that are stylish and refined, with easy drinking appeal.

It’s bright sunshine, cool breezes, and free-draining soils have been our partners in crime for decades, helping craft the Sauvignon Blanc that put us (and New Zealand) on the world stage. But the real magic is in the diversity of its moods; pockets of personality found across our nine vineyard estates that keep us on our toes and our wines full of character.

Hawke’s Bay brings heat, heart, and serious winemaking heritage. It’s where ancient soils, warm days and cool nights craft rich, structured reds and elegant Chardonnays. Babich has been shaping wine here for decades — hands in the dirt, eyes on the glass, always chasing character that lingers long after the last sip.

Grapes before glory
From Marlborough to Hawke’s Bay, Babich’s viticulture crew keeps things fun, focused, and firmly vine-first. Their day job is equal parts canopy, irrigation, and pest pressure – plus an eye on budgets and the weather’s mood swings – all in service of growing the best grapes their regions can give. They chase the “perfect season” with calm heads and a useful sense of humour (handy when someone decides to drive a tractor in their underpants), then show up again tomorrow, rain, shine, or paperwork. And yes, there’s a four-legged Chief of Staff making sure morale stays high.
